What brand do you think works their asses off the most in order to make sure that everything involving their name, whether cars, service, marketing, or labor, is honestly the best that they can be utilizing whatever resources, time, and technology they have at their disposal?

I can think of several brands that work hard and a few subbrands that I think are saving the parent brand’s skin. But all in all, I think Porsche is currently the hardest working brand. I can give my thoughts in the comments since I don’t want to accidentally persuade people that are on the fence to go with headlining brand. I do think you can fight for any brand because all of them are working hard, so feel free to give some praise (something we seem to rarely do for brands).

I was going to say Tesla. They’ve done more to shape the automotive landscape in the last 5 years than many companies have in 50. They’ve come from nowhere and started building cars profitably, while companies like Mitsubishi can’t even turn a good international reputation and an existing lineup of models into success.

I’m going to have to go with nobody on this one.

Some work less than others, COUGH MOPAR AND MITSUBISHI. But overall, nobody really does it quite perfect.

Id say its a tie between porsche (general) volvo (always pushing the limits of safety...and now power from a twincharged motor) and after them in 3rd, tesla(broke the mold, and broke it bad. But the model X is just a funny body on a model s)

What have Porsche done? I think they’ve done the least amount of work of any manufacturer. They get away with more iteration and less reinvention than anyone else.

Porsche’s strength is in marketing. They’ve turned their history into sales more successfully than anyone else, and that’s where the money comes from. But they’re not really doing anything.

Case in point - the car you’ve posted looks to be yet another special edition 911.

This. Lexus has done so so much since 1989 to give their brand the same sort of prestige as a 100 hear old company like Mercedes-Benz, and it's worked.

Mazda.

They are single handedly trying to advance the n/a motor when every other company is just turbo charging and downsizing to meet strict standards.

Plus every idea they have can quite possibly be their last and they aren't retreating to cost cutting and conservatism (like Mitsubishi)

I’d say GM.

Fighting the uphill battle to repair decades of reputation damage is as difficult as it gets. They aren’t “the best” but they are pressing hard to improve.

Brands that are started from a clean slate or have luxury/status associations have it easier.

I’m quite surprised noone has gone with Ferrari yet, seeing as how they did that whole thing with preventing private LaFerrari tests with customer cars and cease and desists letters and that crap.

Especially since Mary Barra took over. We haven't heard too much about her, and the way I see it, that's a good thing. From the outside, she seems like a Siler but strong leader.

I’ve not. I’d love to. And you have a point.

But still, they’re lucky in that they get to keep refining the same design over and over - I think what they’ve achieved can be attributed more to this than to hard work. And much of that is luck and marketing.

I was going to say Mazda, but then I remembered…

Kinja'd!!!

…TVR.

Provided their new return goes well, they’re actually doing what they do best.

Gordon Murray design, Cosworth engines and direct communication with their audience. The people running company right now seem to give a damn for once, here’s hoping it goes well.
